What is La Sororité Network (or simply LSN) ? An organization that came out of an event called The Afterwork.
After a year of meeting women from all over the world who chose to call Paris and IDF their home, the common recurring theme throughout conversation was connection. So, we got to thinking, how else can these women connect? What else is needed as a female expat/immigrant living, working, and surviving here?
We know that moving to a foreign country can be jarring at times. Can you communicate effectively? Are you familiar with the cultural nuances? Have you been able to navigate the administrative steps? Do you feel lost sometimes? We’ve been there and we know what its all about.
So, what is sororité?
We are all familiar with the term “sorority”, the Americanized definition will have you imagining young womens’ groups all over university campuses with Greek names based around certain values and attributes (think Legally Blonde, The House Bunny, and the classic Animal House). But this is not where we are going.
The word sorority is derived from the Latin word sororitas, meaning “sisterhood”. With this spirit in mind, we took the liberty to make our own definition. Here, sororité (to us) means a society of women; a body of women united for some purpose. And just like that, La Sororité Network was born. We wanted to create a source for the community of women, comprised of expats and immigrants, living in Paris and beyond and give them a place, the resources, tools, support, opportunities to make the most of life here.
Our mission is to empower women in Paris and the IDF region by building a nurturing community that provides a supportive platform where diverse backgrounds are celebrated, personal development is encouraged, and lasting connections are forged. This vibrant network offers the tools, support and opportunities needed to successfully navigate new cultural experiences. Our goal is to empower women through shared knowledge, meaningful relationships, and the celebration of diversity, fostering an inclusive environment where everyone feels connected and valued.
